How to Host an Afternoon Tea Party!

How to host an afternoon tea party!

This Mother’s Day I planned a high tea and floral arrangement class for the ladies in my life! The four of us had such a great time! Several people asked about the setup and recipes so I thought I would share them here on my blog! I hope you enjoy the post and the easy semi-homemade treats!

How to host an Afternoon Tea party:
Of course you gotta have tea! There are so many choices available in your grocery store! You can pick up a variety pack and try something new! Perfect Peach Herbal Tea by Bigelow was a big hit!

Once you have your tea, pull out your fancy cups, tablecloths, and a three tier stand! If you don’t have a three tier stand you can make one by turning three cups upside down with plates in between to create the tiers!

Once you have your three tier stand, it is time to fill it up with goodies! Here is a little chart I found on Pinterest to let you know what to place on each tier!

Basically, everything is miniature, from the savory tea sandwiches to scones and sweet treats! Here are a few easy recipes to try for each tier!

First Course: Tea Sandwiches
Classic Cucumber sandwiches: That “Brown Bread” from Cheesecake Factory sold in grocery stores, dill and onion flavored cream cheese and fresh cucumbers! So delicious and refreshing!

Butterfly tuna sandwiches- made with Wonder bread and a butterfly cookie cutter, turkey and cheese on brioche buns, and ham and cheese wrapped in puffed pastry (found in the freezer section, just heat and eat!)
Quick Tip– use Wonder bread or thin white bread and freeze it. Use the cookie cutter on frozen bread it cuts better and will defrost in a few minutes before serving! You can use whatever cookie cutter shape you have on hand, even a circle made with the rim of a glass makes a nice presentation!

Second Course: Scones

My sister made the delicious scones and I still have to get her recipe! However, there are easy recipes on the Internet or you can buy scone mix in the grocery store! I also added chicken and waffle mini bites! I used frozen mini waffles and chicken nuggets! Just heat them up, add a little syrup in a small cup and enjoy!

Last but not least, The Third Course: Sweet Treats!

Mason Jar Lid Carmel Apple Pies, Banana Pudding Shooters, Strawberry Cheesecake Bites, and Chocolate Mousse Flower Cakes!

My Mason Jar Lid Carmel Apple Pies were such a hit and so easy to make!

I found the recipe on Pinterest and modified it to what I had on hand. Link to recipe here. You could also fill the pies with peaches, blueberries, or strawberries! So delicious and fun to make!

Banana Pudding Shooters-Chessmen mini cookies, one banana, and a vanilla pudding snack cup! Just layer ingredients in a small plastic shot glass starting with crumbled cookies, pudding, two banana slices, then repeat and top with a whip cream and a cookie!
Quick Tip-use a little Fruit-Fresh to keep the bananas from browning! You can find Fruit-Fresh next to the mason jars and canning supplies in the grocery store or Walmart!

The little cheesecake filled strawberries were delicious! The recipe is from this summer’s edition of Taste of Home Grandma’s Best Desserts!

I highly recommend picking up this magazine at your local grocery store! It has a ton of amazing recipes that you will want to keep for years! Link to the Strawberry Cheesecake Bites here.

Finally, one of my favorite things to pick up in the spring at Trader Joe’s are these chocolate mini flower cakes! They are seasonal but usually available in May! The perfect finishing touch for my Mother’s Day tea party and flower fun!

Here in California, it looks like we are going to be “safe at home” for a while! So I will continue to share ideas to make our new normal a little more bearable! I hope you have enjoyed reading How to Host an Afternoon Tea Party! If you have any ideas for things to do at home, please share in the comments! Thank you for reading my blog! Stay safe and until next time…

Stay busy being fabulous!
