How to Have a Spa Day At Home

How to plan a home spa day

Now more than ever, it is important to find ways to take care of yourself and your family. Paying attention to your mental health and finding ways to relieve stress is critical in these difficult times. As we continue to spend more time at home, here is another way you can relax, relate, and release! Below is a complete guide on how to have a spa day at home. There are DIY spa recipes, links to materials, and decor ideas to create an amazing spa experience at home!

Spa Planning Guide

Step One: For me, I instantly feel relaxed when I am in a comfortable robe! It is the first thing you put on at a “five star” spa resort so don’t skip this luxury! If you already have a fabulous robe you are all set! However, you can order spa quality robes at a discount from Towel Hub! They are super comfortable and they were only $12.95 and less if you buy more! They take about 5-7 days to arrive so order early! Link to their website, here.

Step Two: Make a little self-care goodie bag! In addition to the robes, I went to Dollar Tree and Big Lots to grab a few spa items! There are so many cute items like nail kits, exfoliating gloves, water bottles, and cute bags! I also got a few supplies like plastic bowls and whisks for mixing ingredients, and I used cat litter trays as large containers for soaking our feet, I got them from Dollar Tree.

Step Three: Gather the ingredients for your DIY spa treatments! Here are three recipes that you can make and most of the ingredients are already in your pantry! The one ingredient that you may need to pick-up is the citric acid for the bath bombs. Citric acid is what makes the bath bombs fizz so you will want to pick that up at the grocery store in the canning supply area or a restaurant supply store like Surfas Culinary Supply Store in Los Angeles. Link to Surfas, here.

Here are the recipes to make bath bombs, a honey brown sugar body scrub, and an oatmeal cinnamon face mask!

Note: You can substitute olive oil for almond oil if you can’t find almond oil

Note: This is a body scrub, great for hands and feet. Not recommended as a facial scrub, it may be too abrasive for your face.

Step Four: Create a relaxing spa atmosphere! This is my favorite part! Decorate with plants or flowers, have spa water, fruit, and snacks available. Put on some soft spa music, and welcome your family to your peaceful spa! You can be indoors but if it is a nice day, you can’t beat a little fresh air!

It was important to me to include my guys in the spa day! Our Black men need to feel honored now more than ever! I wanted to make them feel like kings and they did! They had a wonderful day!
