15 things to do at home to enjoy spring!

Hello April! Whew! March is finally over and we are ready to begin a new month! Although we are still safe at home, there are many things we can do to enjoy the season and all the beauty that surrounds us both indoors and outdoors. Here are 15 things you can do at home to enjoy spring!

Number One: Gardening

Spring is the perfect time to plant and enjoy a garden! Whether it is a small indoor herb garden or a beautiful outdoor garden. You can spend time planting vegetables, flowers, or herbs and enjoy a little sunshine! Gardening is peaceful and you can still get supplies at Home Depot or even the 99 Cent Store has small plants and herbs to get you started!

Number Two: Spring Cleaning

Now is a great time to organize that pantry or closet you have been complaining about! You would be surprised how a clean organized space can lift your spirits! In addition, you may find something you have been looking for, it is like a treasure hunt in your house! For ideas, you can checkout my video on how I reorganized my pantry and laundry room here.

Number Three: Paint and Sip at home!

Now that everything is clean and organized, why not have a little fun with the family creating your own paint and sip night! All of the materials you need are at Dollar Tree (which is still open) and it is a fun inexpensive way to entertain the whole family! We did this at Thanksgiving a couple of years ago and it was super fun!

Number Four: Enjoy a Spring/ Easter Brunch

Easter is on Sunday, April 12th and while we are unable to physically go to church or out to brunch, you can still attend church virtually and have a wonderful brunch afterwards! Go all out and make a fun cake, set the table, make waffles, and even have an Easter egg hunt for the kids! We have a lot to be thankful for and this is the perfect way to show it!

Number Five: Host A Virtual Dinner Party

If brunch is not your thing, how about hosting a virtual dinner party! Evite has some cute invitations you can send that link with Zoom, Google Hangout, and other meeting platforms that you can use to connect with friends and family while you share a meal together. You can checkout their website here.

Number Six: Family game night with puzzles and board games

If you need a little break from T.V. and screen time, pull out those old board games and puzzles. They are still fun and take a nice amount of time to complete. My husband had never played Clue as a kid so, I look forward to introducing him to this old school game!

Number Seven: Karaoke Night

During the holidays a couple of years ago we had a karaoke night and it was so fun! This is something you can do with your family at home. Just connect your laptop to your T.V. or if you have a Smart T.V. you can go straight to YouTube for hundreds of karaoke songs! If you have a microphone great but, it is not necessary for an evening of entertainment!

Number Eight: Try a new recipe!

Like many of you, I have been cooking a lot more at home. This is a great time to browse your cookbooks and try a new recipe. I love to bake and had to stop for a minute because I was eating way too many sweets! So now I am trying some of my favorite healthy recipes and cooking more vegetables. Below is one of my favorites, Taco Soup, you can checkout the recipe here.

Number Nine: Have a Spa Day at home

While we can’t go to the spa or nail salon at this time, we can treat ourselves to some pampering at home! I like to use a nice scrub in the shower, I am doing my own mani and pedicure, and I also finally have time to burn candles and take a nice long bath! Self-care is very important for our mental health. Try to take this time to relax and take care of yourself.

Number Ten: Try Adult Coloring Books!

Adult coloring books are a great way to relax and pass the time. I like to do this to wind down before bed while I listen to music and enjoy my favorite candle. You can find them at dollar stores, drug stores, or you can order them online. Give them a try and discover another way to relieve stress and relax.

Number Eleven: Learn a new skill or hobby

This is a great time to learn a new language, learn how to sew or knit, or even take a virtual floral arrangement class! Where you ask? You can take one of my FREE Blooms & Bubbly Floral Workshops held monthly on Facebook! My next one will be near the end of this month! Be sure to like my Facebook page here, to get more information on dates and times!

Number Twelve: Start an Exercise Program

Take a walk around your neighborhood, do an exercise video, or go for a bike ride. These are things we can do to stay active! My oldest son challenged our family to come out of this crisis healthier and weighing less, we are all focused on making better choices, staying active, and still having fun together.

Number Thirteen: Learn the art of napping, mediation, and quiet time!

It is totally okay to do absolutely nothing! We should not feel guilty about taking this time to rest, sleep in, meditate, and just breathe. For extroverted busy bodies like me, this can be the hardiest thing to do! However, I am learning to slowdown and be comfortable with doing nothing. I still have not learned the art of napping but, I have plenty of time to practice!

Number Fourteen: Put together a Care Package

Although many of us are working from home, there are so many people that have to continue to work as essential employees at this time! I cannot say enough to thank our doctors, nurses, first responders, grocery store employees, and all of those in service as essential workers during this crisis! In addition to being thankful, you can send them a gift card, or put together a care package or have a meal delivered to their home. We all know folks who are working at this time and I am sure they would appreciate a nice care package as a thank you! Also, don’t forget about our elderly, have the kids write a nice letter, or decorate a card, send a meal, and call to check on them as often as you can. We are all in this together and kindness is not cancelled!

Number Fifteen: Start a blog, make a video, or write a book!

This is the perfect time to finally start that blog, or YouTube channel you have been talking about! It is hard to believe that I started this blog four years ago! I don’t blog as often as I use to but, it is still something I enjoy doing as often as I can! I also have a YouTube channel, a floral business, and I am currently writing my first book! I am using this time to finally finish my book and I hope to have it published this year! You can do it too! My advise is to just start! Hopefully we will never have a time like this in our lives again but, for now we can make the most of it and use this time to write and reflect.

I hope you have enjoyed this post. Getting back to writing for my blog is one of the things I am doing during this time. I pray for good health and wellness to you and your family. Stay in and stay safe!

Stay busy being fabulous,

Kery B.
