Book Club Featuring Author Nefertiti Austin Motherhood So White

I love my book club! We have been meeting monthly for the past sixteen years! It is an incredible sisterhood of love, support, and a whole lot of fun! This month, we were so excited to have acclaimed author Nefertiti Austin join our book club to discuss her latest book Motherhood So White A Memoir of Race, Gender, and Parenting in America. Her amazing memoir was recently featured on the Today Show and I am so proud of my dear friend and sorority sister!

Nefertiti is funny, smart, and has always been wise beyond her years!  Her caring yet no nonsense approach to life comes through in her writing and brings clarity to many complex issues facing our community. In her book, she eloquently shares her journey and personal experience with adoption. Her memoir is informative, relatable, and brings a voice to the table that is not often heard in discussions about motherhood.

We really appreciated her taking the time to lead our book discussion, answer our questions, and share some valuable insights on the process of writing and publishing a book!  We had a great time eating delicious food, sipping wine, and having a little fun with our fall theme!

Kim and Marci did a fabulous job hosting and made it an extra special event! Our book club is just too cute and we love to go all out to make it a wonderful experience every time we meet!
