Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken Arrives in Los Angeles!

Have you tried Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken? If you are from the South, you probably have! However, for us West Coast folks this may be something new and it is right here in Los Angeles…better yet, it is right on Crenshaw and Pico minutes from my neighborhood!

All week I have been eating the same thing, no literally…I did my meal prep this week so I had the same thing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday thru Thursday! It is going well but, by Friday night I was really ready to try something new! I decided to search the internet and I stumbled upon a list of the hottest new restaurants in Los Angeles and Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken was in the top ten! It was close and sounded good so the Hubby and I headed out for a casual Friday night dinner!

The atmosphere was really cool! It felt like a “down-home” place for a relaxed dining experience.

Okay, side note: Can you find Waldo in the picture? I think it was a Halloween costume, LOL!

The menu was simple but with a nice variety of choices. I wanted to try everything on the menu! So many southern favorites, like fried green tomatoes, greens, baked beans, and of course,  mac and cheese! My husband had to get a double scoop of that!

I got the 2-piece dark meat plate. It was very filling!

So how was the chicken you ask…did it live up to it’s title of being “world famous”??? The answer is YES, it was so good!  Definitely hot, spicy, and juicy!  I am dating myself but, this spicy extra crispy chicken reminded me of Golden Bird Chicken but not greasy, LOL!  The baked beans and slaw were very good and the mac and cheese was creamy and delicious too! I would say we were two happy campers after that meal!

I would say this place is definitely worth checking out! If you do a carry-out order, there is free parking in the back. If you dine-in you have to park on the street. Link to their website, here.
