What’s the Scoop on Acai Bowls?

So you know your kids are grown when they start giving you health food advice ! This time I am taking advice from my youngest son. He loves Acai bowls!

We call him Mr. Man!

He shared with me that the Acai Especial Bowl at Robeks is really good and healthy for you too!  Have you ever been to Robeks ?

It is a fresh juice and smoothie place very similar to Jamba Juice. My son’s friend works at Robeks and raves about how great the Acai Especial Bowl is for you and tasty too!

 

If you are not familiar with Acai (ah-sigh-EE), it is a purple berry grown in the palm trees in the Amazon Rainforest of Brazil. Acai berries contain antioxidants, fiber, and is said to have many health benefits. In addition to being good for you, the whole bowl at Robeks is only 370 calories. Whoo Hoo!

I must admit… it was good! It was much sweeter than I anticipated. It was also pretty filling. To be fair Jamba Juice has an Acai Engery bowl too. I will have to try that one and compare the two. Apparently, there are cafes that specialize in Acai and other healthy bowls all over town!  There is a place called Backyard Bowls that I would like to try.  They received good reviews from customers and seem to have many options on their menu. I am really trying to be more health conscious and learn more about the right things to eat. I just started reading this book

So far it is a good reference guide, easy to read, and makes you really think about what to incorporate into your diet. Link to book here. Well, I am glad my son let me know about Acai bowls. Boy, what would I do without my kids young adults “waking me up” to all the cool things out there!
