It’s hard to believe that it has been two years since my big chop! If I had to describe year one in just one word it would be “discovery”. If I had to describe year two, it would be “powerful and versatile”…okay so I needed two words, lol! Continue reading

A look back at my natural hair journey!
It is hard to believe that it has been a little over a year since my big chop on August 30, 2015! There have been a lot of fears, tears, and twists (literally) along the way. Sometimes when I need a little motivation to keep up my hair routine, I take a look at my pictures and I am encouraged by the growth and improvement in the health of my hair. I found this picture of my hair a few months before I decided to cut it off! Continue reading
This week I am determined to get my mind, body, and soul right! Sometimes you just need a little encouragement and motivation to get back on track! Whether it is working out, eating right, or staying focused on your vision. You can do it if you put your mind to it! So let’s get started! Continue reading

My Visit to Nappywood!
So what and where is Nappywood you ask?? Nappywood is a natural hair and lifestyle expo held annually here in Los Angeles! This past weekend I attended this highly anticipated event and I had a great experience! Continue reading
A few weeks ago I visited two very hot spots-Las Vegas and Palm Springs! The temperature was well over 100 degrees in both places and the sun was super bright! I was so glad I had UNSUN-a mineral based sunscreen designed for all skin types. I was given the product to try and share my opinion on my blog.I know that I should use sunscreen to protect my skin from the damaging effects of the sun. However, I hate to use it on my face because of the oily white residue it leaves behind. Fortunately, UNSUN is a tinted facial sunscreen that goes on smooth and blends in without leaving a white residue even on my darker skin tone. Continue reading
There is so much to discuss when it comes to hair! I could do several posts on just this topic alone. There are hundreds of blogs and videos dedicated to talking about natural hair; although, there is not as much information on natural hair AFTER 40. There are definitely some unique challenges we face with our hair as we age. While I am certainly not an expert on natural hair, I can share my experiences and challenges I have faced going natural after 40.
About a year ago, out of frustration with my thinning damaged and relaxed hair I decided to do the “Big Chop” and cut off all of my permed hair. Continue reading
My Favorite Five Things for Skin Care- Part I
I was never a beauty product gal, I was more of a soap and water kinda chick! However, over the last few years I feel like my skin and hair care needs are definitely changing. I find myself browsing the beauty aisle a lot more and looking for products that will work to keep my skin and hair healthy. Luckily, my skin is not too sensitive so I am able to experiment with different products. However, everyone’s skin is different so you definitely have to find what works for you. I started experimenting with a few tips from my dermatologist then I went to ULTA beauty to browse their hugh selection of products.
I am often asked about my skincare routine and I wanted to update you on my natural hair journey. I thought I would share some of my favorite products in a three part series on skin, natural hair, and make-up. Continue reading
