Mind, Body, and Soul-Workout Wednesday!

mind body and soulThis week I am determined to get my mind, body, and soul right! Sometimes you just need a little encouragement and motivation to get back on track! Whether it is working out, eating right, or staying focused on your vision. You can do it if you put your mind to it!  So let’s get started!

First step: Get your MIND right!  For me, when it comes to working out, it’s all about MOTIVATION!  Setting a goal like getting ready for an event or losing weight for my birthday is a great motivation for me!  However, sometimes it is the little things that motivate me to workout like this cute t-shirt! I saw it at Target and it made me laugh!

The quote is from the movie Mean Girls!  My daughter loved that movie and use to watch it over and over! It was a slumber party favorite back in the day, LOL! When I saw the t-shirt  I thought it would be a great workout shirt and motivation for my Wednesday post!

I prefer to workout outdoors and I try to go walking whenever I can. I love the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful day, especially at the park or the beach. There is nothing like taking in the fresh air and enjoying the view. However, if I am not able to go outdoors, I like to use a workout video at home. Shaun T Hip Hop Abs is my favorite!

Now that your mind is right...let’s talk about BODY!

So we know that working out is good for your body but eating right is key! I’ve had the most success with eating right when I plan my meals and keep track of what I am eating.  This week I decided to try meal prepping- cooking and packing my meals for the week all at once!  I watched a few videos on Youtube and decided to give it a try. Here is my first attempt at meal prepping for lunch and dinner this week.

For dinner I made Marinated Chicken Fajita Breast Strips-sounds fancy but they come frozen in a bag, LOL! I also made Baked Salmon with Mexican style rice and veggies (portion control is everything folks)! For lunch I had turkey wraps on whole wheat tortillas with apple slices and a KIND bar for my mid-day snack.  I did not prep breakfast this time as I usually have a vegetable omelette, oatmeal, or yogurt with fruit.

Meal prepping for the week did not take as long as I thought- it took about 90 minutes to cook and store everything. I also used my free MyFitnessPal app to track my calorie intake for the week. My breakfast, lunch, and dinner put me at about 1300 calories for the day! Drinking plenty of water is also key. I like these cute water bottles to make drinking water fashionable!

Time for a little SOUL!

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

You can have your mind right, your body tight, and still feel off balance without spiritual grounding. For me, I needed to get back on track with going to church. I had missed one or two  okay a few Sundays and it was so nice to go and hear a great message! Faith, family, and friends are the “F words” I can’t do without. I feel so blessed to have a sound mind and body so I better start taking better care of it!

My last step is to connect with other SOULS! Leading a healthy lifestyle is so much better with the help of family and friends. You can join a walking club, sign up for a group challenge, or just ask a buddy to workout with you. I find a support group helps me reach my goals and gives me the push I need (literally) when I fall off the wagon.

For me, working out opens my day in the most positive way. It gives my mind and body and huge boost.

I’ve been working on my spiritual health. I added a weekly bible study/fellowship to my calendar. We are study “The Armor of God” led by Priscilla Shirer.

Sounds really good. My good friend runs a weekly bible study as well. It is so good to fellowship with friends.
      Thanks for your comment Stephanie!
