My Favorite Five Things for Skin Care

My Favorite Five Things for Skin Care- Part I

I was never a beauty product gal, I was more of a soap and water kinda chick! However, over the last few years I feel like my skin and hair care needs are definitely changing. I find myself browsing the beauty aisle a lot more and looking for products that will work to keep my skin and hair healthy. Luckily, my skin is not too sensitive so I am able to experiment with different products. However, everyone’s skin is different so you definitely have to find what works for you. I started experimenting  with a few tips from my dermatologist then I went to ULTA beauty to browse their hugh selection of products.

Favorite Things Skincare

I am often asked about my skincare routine and I wanted to update you on my natural hair journey.  I thought I would share some of my favorite products in a three part series on skin, natural hair, and make-up.

This week I will share my Favorite Five Things for Skin Care. Stay tuned over the next few weeks for my tips on natural hair over 40, and make-up for the “natural look” . Let’s get started!

  1. Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

favorite five things for skin care

I started using Cetaphil to clean my face about six months ago.  So far it has been really good. It is gentle on my skin and removes make-up pretty well. They also make a gentle version for more sensitive skin that my daughter prefers to use for her very sensitive skin. You can find this product at almost any drugstore or grocery store for about $10.00.

2. Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer

Favorite Five Things for Skin Care

My dermatologist hooked me up with a sample of this product at a visit a few months ago. She really emphasized the importance of using sunscreen for your face daily. I started using it and I really see the difference in terms of evening my skin tone and the built-in sunscreen is great. Especially for the bright sun this summer. The cost is about $18.00 but, one small bottle lasts for several months. Available at your local drugstore.

3. Exfoliating Beauty Gloves and Sugar Scrub

Favorite Five Things Skin Care

If you have been following my blog, you know I love this Shea Sugar Scrub. However, I recently added the exfoliating gloves and it has really taken it to another level. I use the scrub all over my body while I am in the shower. It leaves your whole body super soft. I try to use the scrub a least a few times a week in the shower and definitely on my Sugar Scrub Sundays! I found the gloves and scrub at ULTA beauty.

4. Dove Sensitive Skin Soap

favorite five for skin care

I said I was a soap and water kinda chick, so I thought I should share the soap I use! Good old Dove! The sensitive skin formula is gentle and great for the whole family. I have been using it for years.

5. Heel Genius Amazing Foot Cream

Favorite Five Things Skin Care

I decided to save the best for last! When we think about skin care, we often forget about our feet! I enjoy going to the nail shop for a pedicure. However, I don’t like paying the extra cost for callus removal. This foot cream does the trick, it is pretty amazing!! First, I use a foot file on my heels and then I rub on the foot cream and bam…instant pedicure!  For a super soft feel I put the cream on before bed and slip on a pair of socks. In the morning, my feet are baby soft! I got this at ULTA beauty for about $10.00.

Well, these are my favorite skincare products. What do you like to use on your skin?  Share your favorites in the comments. Thanks for visiting my blog!

Stay busy being fabulous,

Kery B.

Thanks for the suggestions Kery. I went for years feeling like my face was too blemished with odd areas of dark and light. It didn’t have a consistent tone. About 18 months ago, my sister in law, Lisa kept raving about Boots No 7 Lift & Luminate Day and Night Serum. It’s about $27 for the box with two small tubes that last me about a month. It has changed my skin for the better. My skin has become very even and consistent and I feel confident going without makeup when I want to.

I use to use Cetaphil, but my dermatologist told me about CeraVe. Now I’m hooked. And I swear by Sensitive Dove soap.

Kerry great minds think alike. I use 4 out of 5 of your fav skincare products. I’ve been following a great dermatologist Dr. Yolanda Lenzy who recommended Cetaphil too. Check out my Facebook page to see a pic of my favorite skincare regime. I also juice. I like a glass of fresh carrot juice to keep my energy going and skin glowing. Great article sis!
