I did it! I finally took a sewing class! I have been talking about taking a sewing class for years. My grandma, Viola (Ma Dear) was an amazing seamstress. She made my prom dress and many other beautiful garments. When I was little, she would help me make clothes for my dolls and in college she showed me how to make pillows for my dorm. I always said, one day I will take a sewing class. Well, twenty years later… and I finally got around to it! Best thing is, I found a great class on Groupon and it was right near my neighborhood!
I had so much fun learning to sew and I learned so much in just two hours. I happen to be the only person in the class that day so I got personal attention.
By the end of the session, I was able to make this cute little bag. I even learned how to insert a zipper! I think I can add sewing to my new favorite hobbies list. I already picked up a sewing machine at Walmart!
I have always been a “crafty” kind of person. I like small DIY projects, scrapbooking and now sewing! I enjoy quiet “me time” to make things. Even though life can be crazy busy and hectic at times, it is important to make time for the things that make you happy.
Sewing is relaxing, creative, and it reminds me of the “good ole days” spending time with Ma Dear. Ms. Lilian, my sewing instructor, said I was a “natural”! Thank you Ma Dear for being my muse and thank you Ms. Lilian for your patience and a great experience. Checkout her website at www.lilianravenclothing.com . I can’t wait to share my sewing/craft room makeover and my first sewing project. Subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss a post!
Stay busy being fabulous,
