Getting Ready for Valentine’s Day!

When the kids were little, preparing for Valentine’s Day meant running to the store to buy Valentine’s Day cards for their classes, picking out their favorite candy, and a cute card from my hubby- usually left on my pillow in the morning.  We really did not have the time or energy to go out, so we usually spent the evening at home. There were some years my husband would surprise me and get more than a card.  I will never forget my favorite Valentine’s Day gift.  One year, I opened my card and thought, that’s my “gift” for the day. Then, I got in my car to head to work and on the passenger’s seat was a wrapped box from Williams-Sonoma… it was the heart-shaped waffle maker I had been looking at in the mall earlier that week!  I had commented that I would love to make heart-shaped waffles and did not think he heard me.  Now, I know some ladies like flowers and diamonds…don’t get me wrong, I like flowers and diamonds too! However, I love waffles and all things “brunch”,  so I was in heaven! Sometimes it is the little things-the thoughtful gifts that mean the most. Needless to say, I made heart-shaped waffles for weeks!! It got to the point that my kids were like… “Heart-shaped waffles again!”  Well, now as empty-nesters, the kids are gone, the brown paper bags filled with cards and candy are gone, and we are going out! I enjoyed making waffles but now it is time to step out and have some fun!

I found this coral dress and thought I could spice it up with a few accessories. Shoes and accessories are key ladies!  The right accessories can take a simple dress and make it fancy!
