Super Snacks for the Super Bowl

It’s almost Super Bowl time! I few years ago, I published some of my favorite snacks to make for the Super Bowl. So I decided to repost them just in time for the weekend! I hope you enjoy!

I enjoy watching football and I love to tailgate! Whether we are watching at home or at the stadium cheering on my favorite team… Go Bruins! I like to decorate and set up a nice spread of yummy snacks and tasty treats.

Here are some of my favorite game time snacks: Honey-glazed chicken wings, Cheeseburger sliders, Hot crab dip, pizza snack mix, and a new favorite-chocolate chip cookies stuffed with an Oreo.

When I entertain, I like to make a signature cocktail.  For tailgating, we usually make our “Bruin Blue” drink.  However,  for the Super Bowl, the color kinda works for both teams, LOL!  All recipes are included below.  You should try these easy to make snacks.  Enjoy the Super Bowl !

Honey-Glazed Chicken Wings: adapted from Recipe Girl

INGREDIENTS:

6 pounds chicken wings

salt & pepper

2 cups honey

1 cup soy sauce

4 Tablespoons vegetable oil

4 Tablespoons ketchup

6 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional

Directions: Salt and pepper the chicken, mix all other ingredients in a bowl. Pour mixture over the chicken and bake in the oven at 375 degrees  for one hour. Note: I made one 3 pound bag of chicken wings so I cut the recipe in half.

Hot Crab Dip

Hot Crab Dip:  Mix 3 ounces cream cheese, 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, and hot sauce and chopped parsley to taste; fold in 1/2 pound crabmeat. Spread in a baking dish, top with breadcrumbs (preferably panko) and bake at 425 degrees until golden, about 15 minutes.

Pizza Snack Mix

Directions; Mix Cheese crackers and Pita Chips-I used the parmesan garlic herb pita chips. Toast 4oz of sliced pepperoni for 5-10 minutes in the oven at 350 Degrees,  drain on paper towel.  Add pepperoni slices to crackers and pita chips in a bowl and serve.

Cheeseburger Sliders, Chocolate Chip with Oreo Cookies, and Blue Cocktail Cooler

Cheeseburger Sliders:  Use one pound of ground beef or turkey mixed with one packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Salad and Dip Mix.  Shape into small patties then grill or pan fry. Serve on Hawaiian dinner rolls with American cheese slices.  Another option: add balsamic vinegar, blue cheese crumbs, onion ring straws, and arugula lettuce to make a more “upscale” slider.

Chocolate chip cookie with Oreo inside: I used ready to bake chocolate chip cookie dough and shaped it over an Oreo cookie. Bake as directed on the package. They spread a lot so the cookies come out big and yummy.  Great with ice cream or a cold glass of milk!

Blue Cocktail Cooler: Mix 1 part vodka, 1 part Curacao blue mix and 2 parts lemonade over ice. Enjoy!
